Shhhh. It’s the Quiet Storm. #sade #lovemakinjams #noimbymyselfbutthanksforasking #yesthisseatistaken
I gave you all the love I got, I gave you more than I could give
I
gave you love
I gave you all that I have inside and you took my love
You took my love
He told me sweet lies of sweet loves
Heavy
With the burden of the truth
And he spoke of his dreams
Broken by the burden…
Broken by the burden of his youth
“14 years”, he said
“I could not look into the sun
She saw him laying at the end of my gun
Hungry for life and thirsty for the distant river…
I remember his hands
and the way the mountains looked
the light shot diamonds from his eyes
hungry for life
and thirsty for the distant river
Like the scar of age
Written all over my face
The war is still raging inside of me
I can feel the chill as I reveal my shame to you
I wear it like a tattoo…”
I’ve probably posted the lyrics to this song 100 times over, and I’ll probably continue to do so as long as I live.
“Like a tattoo is a song about war. It’s a song about killing, and what it’s like if you’ve killed somebody; it haunts you forever. I was in a bar in New York, and this bloke had been in Vietnam, and he started talking to me. It was just so sad, and he was really suffering. He had been put in a situation that was out of his control, and he killed someone. There was nothing that I could say because I’ve never thought of anything like that - what it would be like. I knew he was going to have to live with it the rest of his life, and I wanted to write that song. I’d wanted to write it for a very long time.”
Sade - Bullet Proof Soul
I was so in love with you
You rarely see a love that true
Wasn’t that enough for you?
Wasn’t that enough for you
Hit me like a slow bullet
A slow bullet
You kept on thinking you were the only one
Too busy thinking
Love is a gun
I know the end before the story’s been told
It’s not that complicated
But you’re gonna need
A bullet proof soul
