Leap Dick
I celebrated Leap Year by getting insulted by cholas in a party supply store, overhearing way too many conversations where people said HELL NAH NIGGA and then made a variety of hand gestures meant to resemble acts of violence, and generally wishing I had never left the house at all.  A scourge upon you, LA.

Anti-___________
tremblebot: Endlessly fascinated by anti-intellectualism. Nothing new but the opening lines of the review on Cindy Sherman’s retrospective at the MOMA in the Times feels pretty hackneyed: There are several conclusions to be drawn from the Museum of Modern Art’s magnificent if somewhat flawed survey of Cindy Sherman’s brilliant career. But one of them is surely that reports of the death of the...

Forbes: Media Fragmentation
by Scott Goodson Media fragmentation has led to not only an abundance of choices for consumers but an abundance of challenges for brands. Consumers can now choose exactly how and when they interact with a brand. And so brands have to decide how to reach those consumers most effectively, considering not only the many different channels now available—Internet, TV, radio, mobile, print—but also...

On advertising: Banksy vs. Gossage
austinkleon: This Banksy quote from Cut It Out has been making the rounds: People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on...

Put a ring on it
One of the best things a couple can do is take short vacations away from each other. Absence, as they say, makes the heart grow fonder. I’m going to be on my own for the next couple of days, of which tonight is the first night I’ve had alone in a couple of months. There are plenty of people who dislike being with someone every night, if not every day and night, and there are plenty of...

Today's Moon is in: Capricorn
In Capricorn, the Moon’s energy is feminine, semi-fruitful, and earthy. Because Cancer and Capricorn are polar opposites, the Moon is thought to be weakened here. This energy encourages the need for structure, discipline, and organization. This is a good time to set goals and plan for the future, tend to family business, and to take care of details requiring patience or a businesslike...

Perspective
Stefan and I have been sick on and off for about a month, mostly because we keep reinfecting each other. That is probably disgusting to most of you but for God’s sake, the minute you get used to not kissing your lover you might as well move to Utah and start calling each other brother and sister. Anyway, I’m dragging through the last end of this virus, coughing and sneezing and...
